The founder of Strata Supply, a well-known fashion brand in Botswana, Thabo Rantao has launched a new label called Farm Aura. 

In a recent interview, he said Farm Aura which was launched last year November, was inspired by the simplicity of Botswana’s farm life and the modern style of urban living. 

“The idea came to me during my travels across Botswana’s rural areas. I was inspired by the earthy colours and practical clothing I saw on farms,” he said.

Rantao said Farm Aura’s designs reflected this influence, using natural tones like green and brown, as well as fabrics that were both sustainable and fashionable. He said the label was about creating designs that felt natural yet stylish.

“Each piece is meant to tell a story. We wanted to create something unique that blends the beauty of the countryside with a modern twist," he said. 

For the founder, Farm Aura is more than just a clothing line.

“It’s about connecting people to nature and encouraging them to embrace a simpler, more authentic lifestyle,” he said. 

Shedding the light about what the local brand also offered, he said they featured clothing, which blended rugged, natural elements with modern street wear style. These he said included utility jackets, oversized hoodies, graphic tees, cargo pants and denim pieces infused with earthy tones, bold prints and sustainable materials. 

He also said their collection included textured fabrics, relaxed fits and accessories such as caps, socks and backpacks, emphasising both functionality and individuality. Even though he already has another label, he admitted that starting a new label was not easy. 

Rantao said he had to find the right materials, work with local artisans, and ensure the brand stayed true to its vision. Despite the challenges, they launched the brand last year November. He mentioned that the debut event showcased a collection of jackets, dresses, and other pieces that combined simplicity with elegance. 

Rantao also said guests loved the natural look and feel of the designs, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. 

“The response was amazing,” he shared. “It’s clear that people appreciate fashion that tells a Botswana farm story and feels authentic,” he added. 

With this new label, the founder of Strata Supply continues to push the boundaries of fashion in Botswana, proving that creativity and innovation can come from the most unexpected places.
