Feel Good Tribe Concert brings great vibes
24 Dec 2024
Quality musical entertainment underlined the inaugural Feel Good Tribe concert, which could prove to be a welcome addition to the capital's entertainment calendar.
Headline acts Johnny Mokhali, Sereetsi and the Natives as well as Culture Spears captured the imagination of the crowd that packed the Mo’s Open Table in Gaborone on December 22, a small but well organised space for such an event.
With Tomeletso Sereetsi on guitar and lead vocals, backed by instrumentalists, including the impressive Leroy Nyoni on drums and backing vocals, Sereetsi and the Natives delivered a quality acoustic live performance.
Closing their set with the hits, Thaa Kokome and Robete, Sereetsi and the Natives had the crowd off their seats, congregating close to the stage, dancing and singing along to these classics.
Kabelo Mogwe and Culture Spears performed their repertoire of borankana hits ranging from Khudu and Kulenyane to Dibeisane and also had the crowd enthralled throughout.
South African Tswana pop legend, Johnny Mokhali only disappointed in so far as the use of backtracks as opposed to a live band, and periodic lip syncing.
But the crowd walked down memory lane to sing along to Mokhali's many hits, akin to life's soundtrack for many who grew up hearing the Mahikeng crooner's tunes on Radio Botswana. The show's director of ceremonies, Bambino the Comedian added spice with his hilarious interventions in between the musical sets.
Other acts, heavy metal muso Starks Daemon, BOMU award winning Thato Tladi, Moe Lee and Ignited, performed before the headline acts, ensuring the concert became an eclectic mix of musical genres ranging from classic Afro soul, traditional, contemporary folk to amapiano, rock and jazz.
The pilot show, the first of what is slated to be an annual event proved a resounding success. Ends
