Ronald Okavango District Council chairperson

Former Okavango District Council chairperson, Mr Gaopalelwe Ronald has retained his seat as the council chairperson with councillor Mr Brian Samoka assuming the role of deputy.
Both the council chairperson and deputy were elected unopposed at the Okavango District special full council session held in Gumare on December 18. Nominated councillor, Mr Lekonne Masuku was elected the leader of opposition, Mr Television France was elected the chief whip while Mr Keobinetse Matenanga was elected the opposition whip.
The elections of the council leaders followed the swearing in ceremony of all councillors for the new term. In his remarks, Mr Ronald attributed his election to the Almighty, saying that it the Lord who made it possible and ordained it. For her part the council secretary, Ms Iris Sitayelo urged all councillors to work as a team in order to serve the interests of people and to monitor and distribute projects evenly. Ends
