Serwalo drops four track EP album Golekane

Serwalo Masasa, a 28-year-old Gumare based artist, has released a bubbly four track Extended Play (EP) titled Golekane.
In an interview recently, the songstress who goes by her biological name Serwalo in music cycle says the EP, released on November 12, has been well received as it was circulating on different streaming platforms.
The EP - which has tracks such as Golekane, Modimo ke yoo, Mohona and Nda Razhe featuring Koolkat Motyiko - was produced by Volcano in Maun.
Golekane she said came as a result of her spiritual re-awakening as she went back to have a relationship with God last year.
“I realised I should talk about God in my music since He is the biggest thing I have,” she said.
She said to make the music more relevant to the now generation she fused Amapiano and Afro Pop since she had failed to penetrate the music industry through R&B in the past.
Serwalo, who originates from a settlement called Danega near Nokaneng in the Okavango District, is not new in the music industry.
She was part of My Star music competition of 2014-2015 but did not make it to top 18.
The My Star competition exposure worked in her favour since she got recognised by different studios.
Serwalo, who was then going by the stage name Royal Pink, recorded an R&B single titled Kiss and Tell in September 2016.
The single, she said, trended a bit but did not make her penetrate the market as she had anticipated.
She was then featured in a song by HT Tautona in 2021 titled Chocolate Love.
Realising that she had a large online following from the time of My Star under Royal Pink stage name she then decided to do something for her followers.
She began doing comedy skits in 2021 which were about a young woman from Okavango in an urban area, who would switch languages to her Okavango accent and talked about her background lifestyle, especially food.
Serwalo said people loved her comedy skits and wanted to know about her content which positively marketed Okavango.
Due to her versatility, she was featured by Koolkat Motyiko on a traditional song A re ye go tshameka in 2023.
She said music was a calling and therefore encouraged anyone with passion for music to not give up even though it was hard to penetrate the market. Ends
