BDP advocates for economic inclusivity-VP

27 Oct 2024

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) led government advocates for economic inclusivity and assisting small scale entrepreneurs, to contribute to the economy of the country.

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane said when launching the party’s parliamentary candidate for Okavango East, Mr Bagalatia Arone and his five council candidates in Seronga on Friday. Mr Tsogwane said the party had delivered on some of its promises that were made prior to the 2019 general elections.

He therefore, said the BDP-led government was on the right track to attaining prosperity for all, by ensuring that locals benefited from natural resources through the tourism sector.

Mr Tsogwane said Batswana should explore value chain development, to ensure sectors such as agriculture benefited them entirely.

Farmers, he said should work on improving farm produce to make products such as pop corns. “We encourage self-reliance, we know that the country’s economy is boosted by small businesses,” he said and added that restriction on some horticulture produce was to protect local industry which was still young and also to encourage farmers to produce more.

Further, Mr Tsogwane urged Okavango East constituents to vote for Mr Arone and his council candidates since the BDP was a trusted party.

Mr Arone is a trusted leader, a teacher by profession and has served as a Member of Parliament before, said Mr Tsogwane.

He said it was important for the constituents to vote for the BDP parliamentary candidate together with his fellow council candidates for proper planning.

Mr Arone for his part, implored the constituents to vote in his and council candidates’ favour. Ends
