Botswana Democratic Party says it will retain Gaborone Bonnington South in the upcoming general election.
Officially launching the Gaborone Bonnington South parliamentary candidate, Mr Christian Greeff recently, the party’s Deputy Secretary General, Dr Lemogang Kwape said the BDP had laid a strong foundation of national unity and true democracy of consultation and transparency, hence he was confident that the electorate would continue entrusting it.
“We have a sound manifesto of uplifting the livelihoods of Batswana and we have made strides in fulfilling our 2019 promises. I urge all the democrats and other residents of Bonnington to vote for Mr Greeff so as to continue delivering on the BDP manifesto,” he said.
Dr Kwape gave credit to the BDP-led government through President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi for committing to attract foreign direct investment and creating a conducive business environment thus creating employment for Batswana.
He said the BDP had since independence led Botswana in the right direction and sustainable developments, adding that the country’s pattern of economic development was envied by other countries. This, he said, was primarily due to visionary leadership.
The transformation in the diamond industry through the promotion of diamond beneficiation value chain and ceasing selling diamonds in their raw form, he said was testament to the BDP-led government commitment to creating jobs.
Dr Kwape said the BDP government remained committed to improving the livelihoods of Batswana through growing the private sector to be competitive and productive as well as increasing the ease of doing business in Botswana.
Thus, he entreated electorate to keep faith in the BDP in its journey to leading Botswana to its second transformation which would be centered on the Presidents’ Reset Agenda and infrastructure development, to create job opportunities for Batswana.
For his part, Mr Greeff vowed to work hand in hand with the electorate in ensuring that the constituency was developed. Mr Greeff said the constituency had the potential to be an example of how community involvement could unleash opportunities to transform lives.
He said he was better placed to advocate for the community since he was born and raised in the ward hence had the interests of the community at heart. ENDS
