The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has presented its parliamentary prospective candidate for Ngami, Mr Kavis Kario, whom party leaders have hailed as a visionary leader with an impact on both the party and the nation.
During the launch event in Gumare on Saturday, Acting President Mr Slumber Tsogwane emphasised Mr Kario’s wealth of experience, notably in party affairs and the mining sector.
He asserted that Mr Kario’s contributions had positively influenced the country’s economic landscape.
“Mr Kario is a visionary leader. If you vote for him, you will be voting for the BDP, which is the right party to continue leading the country,” Mr Tsogwane stated. He highlighted the party’s longstanding leadership since independence, positioning the BDP as the most experienced choice compared to its less tested opposition.
Mr Tsogwane, who also chairs the party, reaffirmed the BDP government’s commitment to tackling human-wildlife conflict, a pressing issue for Ngamiland communities.
This effort includes the reintroduction of hunting quotas by the current administration and the translocation of elephants to neighboring countries to manage their population and mitigate conflicts.
“Our government is dedicated to transformation through the Reset Agenda, which aims to realign the country’s priorities while valuing community consultation on governmental resolutions,” he said.
The BDP Ngami Branch Vice Chairperson, Mr Letshabamang Morulaganyi, noted Mr Kario’s longstanding commitment to the Ngami constituency, having transferred his membership from Selebi Phikwe over a decade ago.
He commended Mr Kario for his leadership during the last two general elections and for the positive contributions made through the Kavis Kario Foundation, which has assisted schools among other initiatives.
Mr Morulaganyi encouraged constituents to vote for Mr Kario and his council candidates, emphasising the importance of supporting President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s continued leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Kario appealed to the people of Ngami, urging them to support him and his prospective council candidates who were dedicated to addressing the community’s challenges.
He pledged that, if elected, they would collaborate with local structures to represent the interests of all constituents. ENDS
