Maun East constituents have been implored to give the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile, a second chance to serve them.
The BCP leader, Mr Dumelang Saleshando, made the call during the launch of Mr Kekgonegile and prospective council candidates on Sunday.
He said noting that Mr Kekgonegile was a capable leader who could represent their aspirations well.
He described him as a fearless leader that even in Parliament he ensured his voice was heard because he was concerned about the challenges facing his constituents.
Mr Saleshando said Mr Kekgonegile’s deeds could be seen by all and emphasised that given the chance together with the party prospective council candidates, they would increase the pace and ensure that the constituents’ lives were improved.
“Mr Kekgonegile is a true leader who has a good record as he advocated for the under privileged in society. Even during his tenure while serving in the trade unions, Mr Kekgonegile diligently advocated for the workers’ rights. As such I have no doubt about him hence I plead with you to give him another chance to serve you,” he added.
Mr Saleshando further told the masses who thronged the launch that the BCP was the only party that was competent, organised and ready to lead the nation.
The party, he said, was committed to driving the economy, grow it as well as ensure the nation enjoyed a decent life, noting that the BCP manifesto focused much on issues of quality health, education, decent jobs and good governance, among others.
Mr Saleshando said a report from Statistics Botswana showed that the unemployment rate in the country had increased.
In addition, Mr Saleshando revealed that a report released by the United Nation indicated that the eating pattern had also changed, indicating that those who used to have three meals a day were now having it twice while those eating twice had one meal a day.
Furthermore, he said reports had also shown that the country’s economy was declining.
“This is a clear indication that the ruling party has failed to transform the lives of Batswana as they find themselves in economic challenges. I call upon the nation to shy away the Botswana Democratic Party in October and vote for the BCP, a party with direction,” he added.
The prospective parliamentary candidate for Mmopane/ Metsimotlhabe constituency, Mr Mokgweetsi Kgosipula pleaded with Batswana to give BCP a chance to lead on October 30.
The BCP, he said, was upholding its principles because it was formed on a solid foundation unlike other parties, which he said were not trustworthy.
Mr Kgosipula also pleaded with constituents to vote for Mr Kekgonegile, saying he had proven to be a principled, devoted and committed politician who wanted to bring change to his constituency.
For his part, Mr Kekgonegile urged voters to give him another chance to complete pending issues.
He said the BCP was the only party determined to improve the social and economic livelihoods of Batswana saying they should rally behind it in the October 30 elections.
He accused the ruling party for wasting tax payers’ money on reviewing the Constitution, which he said many sections of the society were against it as it happened in the just ended 12th Parliament. ENDS
