Alliance for Progressives (AP) leadership has ardently appealed to Francistown South electorate to vote for the party’s prospective parliamentary candidate in the general election billed October 30.
AP leader, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe launched Mr Wynter Mmolotsi as Francistown South prospective parliamentary candidate on Saturday.
Mr Gaolathe, whose party had made a coalition with the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), said Mr Mmolotsi possessed exceptional capabilities and unwavering dedication to the constituency since he became their representative in Parliament 15 years ago.
Mr Gaolathe, who is also vice president of the coalition Umbrella UDC, lauded Mr Mmolotsi as a valuable asset to both the AP and the broader community.
He highlighted Mmolotsi’s track record of integrity, commitment and proactive engagement in addressing key issues affecting the constituency, saying ‘it is evident that Mr Mmolotsi embodies the core values and principles that the AP stands for,’ thus urging voters to consider him as the ideal candidate to represent their interests and aspirations in Parliament.
He indicated that Mr Mmolotsi’s allegiance to AP was grounded in shared ideals and a vision for a prosperous and inclusive future for all citizens of Botswana.
He added that AP had numerous ambitious plans for Botswana’s economic revitalisation against the backdrop of a country rich in mineral resources, yet grappling with high unemployment rate.
He said when voted into power, the coalition government would transform the boundless energy into opportunities to create jobs.
Another speaker, also UDC council prospective candidate for Marobela Ward in the Shashe West constituency, Mr Tabona Masole said the youth, who formed the highest number of the population, were faced with many challenges such as unemployment, drug abuse and social ills.
Mr Masole therefore challenged the youth to vote out the BDP in the October 30 general election and replace it with a party that had their interest at heart.
He said when voted into power, UDC would reduce the number of old age pensioners from 65 to 60 years.
In addition, he told voters that when in power, UDC would transform the Ipelegeng and increase the allowance to P2 500.
For his part, Mr Mmolotsi reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Francistown South with diligence and dedication.
He outlined his vision for the constituency, emphasising the importance of effective representation, responsive governance and sustainable development initiatives. ENDS
