The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will field Ms Kungo Mabogo as its parliamentary candidate for the Palapye constituency in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a Letswapo Region star rally in Palapye on Saturday,  President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi urged voters to support her and other BDP parliamentary candidates.

He also pleaded with Batswana to give him the opportunity to complete his term as President.

He said opposition parties were devoid of ideas that could help improve the lives of Batswana. He urged BDP members in the Palapye and Sefhare/Ramokgonami constituencies to intensify their campaigns and to win back the Palapye constituency.

He said the BDP was peaceful, consultative and protective of Batswana. 

Dr Masisi noted the presence of Bazezuru at the star rally, saying they were one of them and could practice their religion and culture without any discrimination.

He urged BDP members to remain united and to accept decisions taken by the party leadership, adding that all BDP members took an oath to adhere to the party’s policies.

President Dr Masisi said the BDP had fulfilled most of the promises it made in 2019, citing the installation of free high speed Internet network in clinics, kgotlas and schools.

He said BDP election manifesto would have some promises that would be fulfilled, adding that one of them was that farmers along the Limpopo River would have the opportunity to use its water. 

He elaborated that water would be pumped from the river and distributed to farming fields.

He urged BDP activists to not only conduct house-to-house campaigns, but also to campaign in public places such as bus ranks and churches.

The party secretary general, Mr Kavis Kario said BDP programmes were futuristic, and aimed at developing Motswana. 

He also pleaded with Batswana to vote for the BDP, saying it had a visionary leader in President Masisi. Ends
