First Lady Neo Masisi who is also the UNAIDS champion for the empowerment and engagement of adolescent girls and young women, will tomorrow (May 29)lead the launch of Change Makers - Stories of Hope  in Gaborone.

Change Makers is a compilation of inspirational stories from 20 Let Youth Lead Advocates sharing their personal journeys from the programme.

A press release from Sentebale, a charitable organisation established in 2006 by the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, explains that  the Let Youth Lead initiative operates under Sentebale's guidance. The programme fosters meaningful interactions between young individuals, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders.

These interactions take place through consultative forums that provide a platform for young people to voice their concerns on various issues such as HIV/AIDS, healthcare, education, and access to youth-friendly services.

Furthermore, says  that the insights of young people are integrated to shape initiatives tailored for the youth demographic. It also highlights that the programme encourages advocates living openly with HIV to share their stories of hope and resilience, aiming to inspire peers facing similar challenges with their HIV status.

Established in 2017, Let Youth Lead caters to young people aged 19 to 29, with its headquarters in Gaborone and additional branches throughout the country.

Sentebale's report states that approximately 9 000 adolescents and young individuals in Botswana have received direct assistance through various programmes. Additionally, the organisation has collaborated with the Office of the First Lady on projects like Dipalametse and the # fetajaana roadshow campaign, where the First Lady interacted with adolescents and young people on different topics including HIV/AIDS.
