The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidates have been encouraged to fully engage in campaigning for the party without seeking personal assistance upfront.
Addressing BDP North East region in Tutume on April 27, the party chairperson Mr Slumber Tsogwane, emphasised the importance of utilising the party’s existing programmes and policies designed to improve the lives of Batswana.
He said candidates should focus on promoting initiatives like Chema Chema, Temo, and Thuo Letlotlo to connect with voters and prioritise the party’s interests over their own.
“You are candidates campaigning for BDP, let your speech say it all,” he said.
Mr Tsogwane highlighted the significance of the Nkange constituency as a stronghold that candidates must work together to secure for the BDP, underscoring the need for dedication to achieve this goal.
He mentioned that the party was fulfilling its 2019 manifesto promises, with various projects already underway.
The party’s potential candidates were advised to familiarise themselves with the upcoming manifesto for the year to effectively communicate it to voters.
Additionally, Mr Tsogwane said government had introduced the Development Manager model (DM) to oversee development projects nationwide.
In the North East region, projects like the construction of Tutume hospital and the reconstruction of the A3 road from Francistown to Maun would be implemented using this model, Mr Tsogwane said
He encouraged Batswana to embrace a mindset change, step out of their comfort zone, and leverage government programmes to enhance their livelihoods.
The North East regional chairperson, Mr Jabulani Vuke, pledged to bring Nkange back to the BDP and announced that all future meetings would take place in the constituency to bolster the party’s chances of success.
He said they were going to engage party veterans in the area to get their vision and strategies to get the constituency back.
Member of the Central Committee, Ms Angelina Sengalo, advised candidates on the importance of managing their supporters, regardless of election outcomes, to uphold the party’s integrity. ENDS
