President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will undertake a working visit to the United States of America from April 28 until May 9.

While in the USA, President Masisi will participate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) conference which will be held under the theme, Innovation In Global Growth Markets: Prosperity Through Entrepreneurship  in Boston on  April  30.

A  press release from Ministry of Foreign Affairs says President Masisi will give a keynote address on how technology acts as a catalyst in advancing development and ensuring continued prosperity in growth markets. The conference will provide an opportunity to gain insight on how entrepreneurship can play a critical role in the attainment of economic prosperity around the world.

Further, the release sayd President Masisi will then proceed to New York where he will attend the 2024 Global Citizen Now Summit on 2nd May 2024. During the summit, he will engage in discussions with Mr Phillip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The discussions will focus on collaboration between Botswana and The Bahamas, particularly on areas such as economic development, cultural relations, tourism, agriculture, health, education and financial services.

President Masisi will travel to Dallas, Texas, where he will participate at the US-Africa Business Summit which will be held under the theme: US-Africa business: Partnering for Sustainable Business Success, from  May 6-9.

According to the release President Masisi will also participate in a High Level Dialogue entitled, Unlocking Africa’s Digital Potential : Addressing Challenges and Expanding Opportunities.

The US-Africa summit presents an opportunity to advance Botswana’s economic interests in the US in various strategic sectors, including digitization of Botswana economy, agric-business, health, value addition of natural resources as well as transport and communication.

President Masisi will be accompanied by some cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
