The Botswana Defence Force regrets to inform members of the public about the death of one of its service members deployed in Cabo - Delgado Province in Mozambique due to a short illness. The member died yesterday. 

The deceased, a Non-Commissioned Officer, was deployed as part of the BDF’s Contingent 5 under SAMIM Forces in the Cabo Delgado Province for peace support operations. 

The next of kin have been informed. 

While the BDF conveys its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Botswana, names of the deceased are withheld to allow the family the space to privately mourn. 

The BDF wishes to reaffirm its commitment and support to peace and security in the SADC region and the world. 

May the soul of the fallen hero rest in eternal peace.
