BDP committed to economic inclusion

Botswana Democratic Party is a reliable party with a wealth of history and experience that was useful in building peace and tranquility, says secretary general Mr Kavis Kario.

Speaking at Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe’s victory party in Letlhakane on Saturday, he said “BDP has leadership, discipline and deliverable policies”.

He urged Batswana to follow the party and to vote for it in the coming general elections. He pledged that the BDP would fight poverty and create wealth. He added that the party would  ensure that Batswana were active participants in running enterprises.

He said economic inclusion would ensure effective participation of citizens in the economic growth and development of the economy.

He noted that some citizens currently had limited access to economic resources due to various factors.

Mr Kario also said they would ensure that public health services were easily accessible to Batswana.

He added that they were happy to have won the 2019 elections in Boteti East and that they were represented by a young leader in Mr Lelatisitswe.

He stated that Mr Lelatitswe started his political career when working for Botswana National Youth Council and that he was a well groomed and skilled leader.

Mr Kario informed BDP members that unity and peace amongst members was crucial to enable the party to emerge victorious during elections.

He cautioned BDP members against allowing people to cause divisions within the party.

Mr Kario also urged those who had left the BDP to join Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) to come back.

Also speaking at the event  Member Parliament for Tlokweng, Mr Thulagano Segokgo thanked Boteti residents for voting for the BDP so that it could improve their livelihoods.

He said the BDP was the only party with no divisions. He said the country had overcome challenges such as COVID-19 because it was led by an accountable leader.

He told BDP members that Mr Lelatisitswe was advocating for local beneficiation in minerals present in their area.

Moshupa Member of Parliament, Mr Karabo Gare also said Mr Lelatisitswe’s track record and projects were visible. He said the BDP has been able to achieve its mandate because it had a solid team.

He added that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi was determined to see everyone succeed. He said despite the COVID-19 pandemic, they were able to consult Batswana on changing the constitution.

He added that they had implemented an economic inclusion law that would ensure that every Motswana participated in the economy.

For his part, Mr Lelatisitswe implored Boteti BDP members to participate and work for the party.

He said through the facilitation of the BDP government, all tribes were treated equally and there was no tribe that was superior to others.

He said the BDP offered free education adding that  Batswana, had been empowered through BDP programmes .

He noted that citizen-owned companies were getting tenders in the mines.

Mr Lelatisitswe also promised Boteti residents that a district hospital was on the cards.

He informed electorates that  he was still able-bodied, youthful and hungry to represent them in the coming elections. ENDS
