Keep faith in BDP - Tsogwane

20 Mar 2023

Acting President   Mr  Slumber Tsogwane has entreated Bosele electorates to keep faith in the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) to lead the country to its second transformation.

Urging residents to vote BDP in Saturday’s byelection, Mr Tsogwane, who is the party chairman, said the envisaged transformation was centred on the Reset Agenda and infrastructure development to create job opportunities for Batswana.

The seat fell vacant in January following the demise of the BDP’s Councillor Thabanyane Mmualefe.

Officially launching the BDP’s candidate Mr Isaac Moseki on Sunday, the acting president said the party was already making strides in attaining its 2019 manifesto commitment of uplifting citizen’s livelihoods.

“It is on that backdrop that I urge all the democrats and Bosele residents to vote for Moseki so as to continue on delivering of the BDP manifesto,” he said.

Detailing the party’s achievements, Mr Tsogwane said the BDP had also made it a  commitment to  attract direct foreign  investment and create a conducive business environment with the aim of creating jobs.

The acting president said the envisaged diamond industry transformation through the promotion of beneficiation and ceasing the sale of raw diamonds testified to the BDP-led government’s efforts to create jobs.

Mr Tsogwane said government remained steadfast in improving the livelihoods of Batswana through growing the private sector to become competitive and productive.

In addition, efforts were continuously being made to enhance the ease of doing business in Botswana such as through promulgation of the Economic Inclusion Act, he said.

Mr Tsogwane said the BDP steered the country in the right direction with sustainable development and as a result Botswana was the envy of many countries.

The party, he said,  had laid a strong foundation of national unity and true democracy  characterised by consultation and transparency and for that reason, Bosele ward residents would continue to maintain their faith in the party which was also good for the purposes of continuity.

Mr Tsogwane said led by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, the BDP was on a mission to improve the country’s foreign policy.

For his part, Mr Moseki vowed to work hand in hand with the electorates for the ward’s development.

Bosele ward, he said, had the potential to be a shining example of how community involvement and meaningful engagement strategies could unleash opportunities and possibilities for transforming lives.

Mr Moseki said he was better placed to represent the Bosele community since he was born and raised in the ward. ENDS
