Tafa clears air
01 Sep 2022
Prominent Gaborone lawyer and former BDP Electoral Board Chairman, Mr Parks Tafa, has told members of the 39th BDP National Congress that he in 2016 he was instructed to deliver a message to the then BDP Chairman, Mokgweetsi Masisi, to the effect that he should resign as Party Chairman in order to pave way for Tshekedi Khama.
He said this in his address to the congress that was held in Tsabong this past weekend.
Mr. Tafa said the instruction was from then President Lt. Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama who wished to have his brother, Mr Tshekedi Stanford Khama, assume the Party Chairmanship and later the Vice Presidency of the country.
He further said that, upon reflection, he realises that the intention was anti-democratic and that similar actions should not be tolerated under any circumstances in future.
Mr Tafa implored members of the BDP to support Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi in his quest to uphold the rule of law and to attain shared prosperity for all Batswana. BOPA
