VP urges Moselewapula residents to vote for BDP

28 Jul 2022

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members and other eligible voters in Moselewapula ward, Francistown have been advised to keep their registration and identity cards safely to ensure that they exercise their democratic right during the Saturday bye election.

BDP chairperson, Mr Slumber Tsogwane said this during a walkabout to campaign for the BDP council candidate for Moselewapula, Mr Ngwisiwa Ntogwa on Wednesday.

Mr Tsogwane said  BDP  continued to respond to the needs of the community irrespective of their party affiliations.

“I want you to take our councillor to council. He is an artistic youth, one thing that government encourages,” he said.

To UDC members, Mr Tsogwane urged them to think twice before casting their votes, saying voting for parties that had internal fights would not bear any fruits.

The BDP chairperson said government was ready to address challenges facing the constituents through among others available financial programmes.

“Development should bring changes in people’s lives to alleviate poverty,” he said.

He also observed that there were some people who abused government programmes, and that it was upon the ruling party to stop such abuse.

Meanwhile, Mr Tsogwane urged the youth to give the elderly a chance to vote first as some of them were not well.

During the walkabout, Mr Tsogwane visited the family of the late 60-year-old Edwin Chilengwa, who died in a road accident between Francistown and Mathangwane recently.

The BDP campaign manager, Mr Gilbert Boikhutso said they needed votes so that people could benefit from the BDP rule.

Mr Boikhutso said the BDP chairman’s walkabout had boosted their morale to conquer the world.

For his part, BDP council candidate Mr Ntogwa appreciated that the BDP’s National Women’s Wing chairperson, Ms Peggy Serame and the Vice President had come to boost the campaign and ensure BDP victory on Saturday. ENDS
