Kwape visits Brazil

Foreign affairs minister Dr Lemogang Kwape is on a four-day official visit to Brazil at the invitation of his counterpart Ambassador Carlos Alberto Franco França.

In a statement, the ministry says during the visit, Dr Kwape will engage his counterpart on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
It says the two will consider progress made in areas of bilateral cooperation such as in the agriculture and health sectors

Additionally, they will follow up on the 2020 Botswana-Brazil Political Cooperation session outcomes and explore more areas for collaboration, says the statement.

It says Dr Kwape is also expected to give a lecture on Botswana’s foreign policy at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Rio Branco Institute.

According to the statement, the minister’s itinerary includes engaging the private sector to explore trade and investment opportunities and visiting key agribusiness industries as well as pharmaceutical companies.

Botswana and Brazil have a special bond of friendship underpinned by shared values of democracy and mutual respect.

Brazil’s resident diplomatic mission in Botswana was established in 2007 while the latter reciprocated two years later.

Minister Kwape and his delegation of senior government officials are expected back home on July 30. ENDS
