A new Botswana is possible - Mmolotsi
25 Jul 2022
Voting for Botswana Congress Party (BCP) candidate, Mr Oagile Wairi during the Moselewapula bye election on July 30 will pave way for the new Botswana that will see people’s livelihoods change.
Alliance for Progressive (AP), vice president, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi made the appeal on Sunday, saying Batswana desired to see their livelihoods turned around for better.
That, he said, could only be possible if the electorate did the right thing of voting for people that saw the need to do better for them.
He said Botswana was in a bad state, with people living in abject poverty and unemployment rising drastically under the ruling party Botswana Democratic Party.
He said the AP, together with its partners BCP, wanted to improve people’s lives by coming up with policies and programmes that would see Batswana having sustainable lives, which the BDP had failed to do for the past 56 years.
“The time is now that we vote for change, which will produce fruits we will enjoy as a nation,” he said
Mr Mmolotsi explained that just like the BCP, AP, was part of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) back in 2014 general elections, but they left because they did not agree with some of the conditions of the coalition. For his part, BCP vice president, Mr Taolo Lucas implored Moselewapula residents to vote for Mr Wairi to continue where their late councillor, Mr Rueben Ketlhoilwe, who was also of the BCP had left off.
He therefore urged them to ensure they won by voting for the party candidate in large numbers, over the coming weekend.
For his part, Mr Wairi appealed to the people to vote for him, saying he would be their voice at the city council.
He said Moselewapula needed someone like him, who lived in the ward and understood its needs. Ends
