Preparations for Moselewapula by elections moving smoothly

Preparations for the July 30 Francistown’s Moselewapula ward by-election are at an advanced stage
Francistown-based Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) principal election officer Ms Clare Malikongwa revealed in an interview that returning officers, their assistants and party representatives underwent training last week.
Training for election agents and polling staff would be held on July 21, she said.
Ms Malikongwa said the IEC was currently issuing duplicate registration cards in readiness for polling day.
Two institutions, Mahudiri Primary School and School for the Disabled will serve as polling stations.
She said the total number of eligible voters stood at 1 834 only 1 373 of whom voted in the 2019 general elections.
Contenders for the seat are Botswana Democratic Party‘s Mr Ngwisiwa Ntongwa, Mr Oagile Wairi of the Botswana Congress Party and Mr Ndanyala Tebo of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).
The seat was rendered vacant by the death of UDC councillor, Mr Reuben Ketlhoilwe. BOPA
