Former Southern District Council chairperson Ms Lesego Molapo was a hard worker of note for both the party and the country.
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi said this when offering condolences to the Molapo family at Sheepfarm on Friday. He said Ms Molapo, buried on July 2, was a mainstay of the BDP in Barolong Farms and the country at large.
Dr Masisi said Ms Molapo deserved to have her life shared in writing and pictures because she had her own doctrine of doing things.
Dr Masisi said that Ms Molapo held the position of Council Chairperson for over two decades during her era was proof the BDP was serious about empowerment of women.
The President regretted that he could not attend Ms Molapo’s funeral because he was held up by other pressing national issues. Speaking on behalf of the family, area councilor Mr Aron Mothibi said they were honoured as a family to have the President visit during their difficult time.
He said that they would hold dearly to the life lessons learnt from their mother, who was a loving individual and always ready to help others.
Mr Mothibi said that Ms Molapo was fond of President Masisi and always talked about his good leadership skills despite the many challenges that he has had to contend with such as COVID-19, which led to economic problems. Area Member of Parliament Mr Eric Molale and the newly elected BDP women’s wing Chair Ms Peggy Serame accompanied the President.
The entourage proceeded to Tlhareselele village where they also offered condolences to the Letshelea family following Ms Masego Letshelea’s demise.
She was also a staunch BDP member.
Ms Letshelea, coincidentally a cousin to the late Ms Molapo, was a community leader in her village.ENDS
