Sir Seretse Khama Day Friday
29 Jun 2022
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will give the keynote address at a Sir Seretse Khama Day commemoration event slated for Parliament grounds on July 1.
A Ministry of State President media release says the President will also participate in a series of other activities planned for the day to be commemorated under the theme, Sir Seretse Khama: A Visionary and a Democrat.
The release says First Lady Neo Masisi, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane, former president Dr Festus Mogae, Chief Justice, Speaker of the National Assembly, cabinet ministers, MPs, senior government officials, senior citizens, members of civil society organisations and trade unions as well as members of the diplomatic community will grace the Parliament grounds event.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, it explains, the event is strictly by invitation but will be broadcast live on Btv, Radio Botswana and BW Government pages.
The release urges members of the public to watch the live proceedings to learn more about the day’s significance as well as Sir Seretsa Khama’s foresight and legacy.
“Other festivities planned to venerate Sir Seretse Khama will include entertainment by local artistes and speeches to highlight the visionary and democratic leader that he was,” says the media release. ENDs
