03 Sep 2021
Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Lemogang Kwape and his Namibian counterpart, Ms Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is also the country’s deputy prime minister, yesterday started addressing community meetings in the Chobe District and Namibia’s Zambezi Region.
A Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation media release says the foreign ministers have been assigned the task of engaging border area communities by presidents of the two countries, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and Dr Hage Geingob.
The aim of the meetings, which end today, is to encourage the communities to foster peaceful coexistence, good neighbourliness and fruitful cooperation, states the release.
Additionally, it says the meetings will afford the ministers the opportunity to inform on developments which have taken place following last year’s shooting incident in the area.
Dr Kwape is accompanied by Minister of Defence, Justice and Security Mr Kagiso Mmusi and Chobe MP, Mr Machana Shamukuni who is Assistant Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology.ends
