Ministries embark on national clean-up campaign

The ministries of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, Local Government and Rural Development as well as Transport and Communications will embark on a national clean-up campaign from August 30 to September 3.
A statement from the local government ministry says the aim of the campaign is to create awareness on proper waste management and strategies in place to keep the environment clean.
The clean-up campaign, it says, will include litter picking within identified spots, yards, wards, public facilities and highways.
The release says village committees, private sector, business community, civil society and faith based organisations are invited to participate in the campaign in order to keep their environment clean and free from harmful effects of waste. BOPA
