The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation wishes to correct a recent post by the online UFM news entitled: Zambian President invites Saleshando.

A press release from the ministry says it wishes to categorically correct the inaccuracy by setting the record straight that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi extended an invitation to the Leader of Opposition to accompany him to the inauguration of the Zambian president.

The release says the said post inaccurately states that Mr Hakainde Hichilema, president-elect of Zambia, extended an invitation to Mr Dumelang Saleshando to attend the president-elect’s inauguration ceremony on August 24.

"The invitation to the Leader of the Opposition shows the spirit of cordial relations that exist among political leadership of Botswana and inclusiveness,” sates the release

According to the release, President Masisi has also invited former president Dr Festus Mogae. "The post’s inaccuracy ignores the fundamental reality of President Masisi’s efforts to be all-inclusive. It instead, reinforces untruths that are polarizing," says the release. ENDS
