Greater Gaborone DHMT running short of vaccines

21 Aug 2021

Ministry of Health and Wellness says despite setbacks that characterised resumption of vaccination roll out programme in the Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team (DHMT) area, majority of the huge volumes of people who came were eventually vaccinated.

A press release from the ministry says each vaccination site in the Greater Gaborone DHMT was therefore vaccinating between 250 and 300 people per day, which is more than the usual 100 people per day per site that they vaccinate on normal days

“As a result, the number of vaccines allocated to members of the public, as first doses (AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson), for the Greater Gaborone DHMT are already running short in some sites,” notes the release.

It further states that they expect them to be completely finished by August 23.

Regarding dose allocation for prioritised groups, the release says DHMTs are in touch with the sectors involved and some will be vaccinating over the weekend, including the Greater Gaborone DHMT.

Meanwhile the release states that in most parts of the country, vaccination programme is proceeding well and respective DHMTs have made their own arrangements tailor made to suit their varying situations.

Moreover it informs the public together with other groups currently being vaccinated to contact their local DHMTs for any facilitation they need.

Furthermore the release states that following arrival of some vaccine consignments such as 81, 900 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and others expected in the coming days, communication will be made on when first dose vaccination will resume in the Greater Gaborone DHMT and elsewhere in the country. Ends
