Pfizer vaccine consignment delivery postponed

14 Aug 2021

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has described as misleading an article published by one of the local newspapapers.

A press release from the ministry says the newspaper erroneously suggests that delivery of the Pfizer vaccine consignment of 81 900 doses has been cancelled.

This, the ministry says, is false and malicious since it has responded to the newspaper enquiry indicating that the arrival of the consignment has been postponed, not cancelled, due to logistical arrangements and will now arrive in the country within the next few days.

The ministry thus assures the public that there has been y no misunderstanding or irregularity in its dealings with the supplier as purported.

The ministry, the release says, regrets that such falsehood is being communicated to the public by the said newspaper at this critical moment in the fight against the pandemic.

“We can only hope that the media will remain committed to professionalism and always exercise restraint and utmost responsibility,” reads the release.  ENDS
