The Office of the President (OP) has labelled malicious and misleading an August 8 The Patriot on Sunday newspaper article alleging that government has embarked on renovations of  State House at a cost of P45 million.

OP explains in a media release that renovations at State House were carried out in 2019 and completed in 2020 costing P10 million as reported by former Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration permanent secretary  Mr Thuso Ramodimoosi when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee last year.

It further explains that since then, no further renovations have been carried out at State House except for minor routine maintenance works. 

The release also says it is not true that the President resides at State House II.  

“State House II is a residence for the Vice President. His Excellency the President and members of the First Family reside at State House I, which has housed all the sitting Presidents of the Republic of Botswana,” it says. ends
