President attends SADC centre opening summit

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will on June 21, participate at the official opening of the SADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Centre in Nacala, Mozambique.

The President will be participating at the opening ceremony in his capacity as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security.

The centre is one of SADC’s flagship projects and it is mandated to assist SADC member states affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.

On Wednesday, the President will also participate at the Extraordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in Maputo. The Summit will also commemorate SADC’s 40th Anniversary and consider reports submitted on food security, gender and development, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19.

President Masisi will be accompanied by the Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Kagiso Mmusi and senior government officials.

The President and his delegation will return on Wednesday. Ends
