Botswana calls for Israeli Palistinian ceasefire
19 May 2021
The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation has issued a statement expressing government’s concern about the ongoing fighting between Israeli military forces and Palestinian militants in Jerusalem’s Gaza strip.
According to the statement, government strongly condemns the escalation of attacks and calls for a ceasefire.
It notes that the fighting has resulted in the loss of many innocent lives, including women and children as well as serious destruction of property.
A ceasefire is necessary to avoid any further casualties in the conflict, which risks developing into a fully fledged war, the statement says.
Botswana therefore appeals to the parties to continue to seek a peaceful and durable solution to the conflict, says the release.ends
