SADC labour ministers meet

SADC ministers of employment and labour as well as social partners are scheduled to hold a virtual meeting tomorrow hosted by Mozambique.
According to a SADC news release, the main objectives of the meeting include reviewing implementation of COVID-19 measures to stabilise the economy and labour markets.
The meeting will consider the draft SADC Employment and Labour Policy Framework (2020-2030) as well as deliberate and give guidance on the development of a new protocol on employment and labour.
The release says the meeting will also discuss safe and healthy working conditions as well as strengthening of regional solidarity.
A two-day meeting of senior officials began yesterday to prepare documents on issues to be deliberated on by the ministers.
The release says Mozambique’s Minister of Labour and Social Security Ms Margarida Adamugy Talapa will preside over the meeting in her capacity as SADC Ministers of Employment and Labour and Social Partners chairperson supported by acting SADC executive secretary Dr Thembinkosi Mhlongo. Ends
