President Masisi participates in high level dialogue

The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation wishes to inform the public that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will on April 29, participate in a virtual high-level dialogue, which will discuss issues of food security of the African continent.
The forum is held under the theme; Feeding Africa: Leadership to Scale up Successful Innovations.
A press release from the ministry says the event will be co-hosted by the African Development Bank (ADB) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in partnership with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA). “Among others, the forum will discuss ways of promoting Africa’s agricultural transformation through technology and innovation, as well as explore solutions for enhancing the productivity of Africa’s food systems,” says the media release.
The press release says the dialogue will bring together a diverse group of participants including African Heads of State, heads of multilateral development banks, development partners, private sector, regional organisations and research institutions.
The release says President Dr Masisi will have the opportunity to address the meeting on Botswana’s initiatives that are aimed at improving the country’s food security situation, which includes smart agriculture, a sector at the centre of the country’s development efforts.
The high-level dialogue is expected to conclude with a communique that will contribute to the pre-Food Systems Summit, which will be held in Rome, Italy in July, as well as the United Nations Food Systems Summit, which will also take place this year.
President Masisi’s delegation will include agricultural development and food security minister, Mr Karabo Gare and senior government officials.
