VP consoles Lenkokile family

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, has described Councillor Boitumelo Lenkokile as a principled man, who was determined to serve the community of Phitshane Molopo. Mr Lenkokile died on December 27. Speaking at a memorial service in Phitshane Molopo on New Year Eve, Mr Tsogwane, said the nation had lost a hard worker, who was dedicated to serving the nation. He said Cllr Lenkokile of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) was loving and cooperative. Mr Tsogwane, who is also the BDP chairperson, said Mr Lenkokile had left a legacy, which he believed other party members would learn from.
“He would be remembered for his great support and influence in the BDP,” said Mr Tsogwane.
Meanwhile, Good Hope/Mabule MP, Mr Eric Molale, said the community and the BDP had lost a hard worker. Mr Molale said Mr Lenkokile displayed his leadership character from a younger age. He further described him as soft spoken and humble character.
As a former public servant, Mr Molale said Mr Lenkokile started his public service as a junior officer at the Department of Immigration and because of his dedication and hard work in what he was doing, he managed to climb the ladder to assume a senior position.
Mr Molale said Mr Lenkokile was elected councillor for Phitshane Molopo ward under the BDP ticket. MR Lenkokile started his career in the public service in 1977 as an Immigration officer. He also worked as the Head of Pensions in Kanye in 1992.
He studied for a Diploma in Human Resources Management in 2004 and later retired from the public service in 2012. After retirement, Mr Lenkokile joined active politics in 2014.
The 63 – year – old is survived by his wife, a son, two daughters and three grandchildren.
He will be buried in Phitshane Molopo tomorrow. Ends
