The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security has suspended movement of all cloven hoofed animals and related products through and out of Nxamasere extension area, Zone 2b.
A press release from the ministry says the decision follows a suspected outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Nxamasere extension area in the Okavango Sub-district.
Some officers reportedly sighted cattle that were showing suspicious signs during routine disease surveillance.
The release also says an alert team has been dispatched to the area for further investigations.
Farmers have urged to cooperate with the team and also report any sick animals without delay.
The release further says the public will be informed of any developments as more information becomes available. ENDS
