Ministry tells Batswana to ignore false video

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development says a video clip circulating on social media platforms of a distressed Francistown woman at the height of COVID-19 food relief programme is false and misleading.
A statement from the ministry states that the video’s intention is to discredit the noble response of the government to strengthen the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ministry indicates that the woman was assessed for eligibility to receive the COVID-19 Food Relief package and she received her food packages on May 7 and13.
Therefore, the ministry encourages all members of the public to desist from deliberately or inadvertently sharing any information that may cause anxiety and harm, especially during the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Ends
