Zim nationals voluntary repatriation on going
07 May 2020
Botswana Government has embarked on another joint voluntary repatriation exercise to aid Zimbabwean nationals who have requested to be assisted to return home.
A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation says the operation, facilitated by both Botswana and Zimbabwe is expected to take two days starting from May 06.
The release states that the repatriation will be by road and Zimbabwean authorities will receive the returnees at the Ramokgwebana border as was the case with the recent voluntary reparation exercise conducted on April 16.
Furthermore, the release says that the two government recognise the current challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and its far-reaching adverse impact on the livelihoods of the nationals.
They are therefore committed to working closely on voluntary reparation of Zimbabwe nationals as and when required and the governments are also committed to ensure the safe and humane reparation of the concerned nationals, the release states.
In addition, the release states that Botswana continues to collaborate with other governments to facilitate the voluntary reparation of their citizens from her country. Ends
