COMPLIANCE TO EMERGENCY COVID-19 REGULATIONS
Government would like to inform members of the public that since the Declaration of the State of Public Emergency by President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi on the 30th March 2020, for the purpose of preventing, controlling and suppressing the spread of the COVID-19, which has killed thousands of people globally, there is evidence that these Emergency Regulations are not being adhered to.
One of these regulations calls for extreme social distancing or lockdown, which requires members of the public to stay at home. Members of the public are only allowed to leave their place of residence if they want to obtain or transact an essential service such as health care or buying food from a nearby shop, provided they have obtained a permit.
The Government has noted with concern members of the public who continue to ignore these regulations as some are still seen loitering the streets during the day and at night. The long queues at our supermarkets are a demonstration that compliance to these regulations is still an issue.
Overcrowding is a breeding ground for COVID-19 and therefore very dangerous as it may expose you and those close to you at risk of getting infected with COVID-19. The COVID-19 symptoms are not quickly and easily noticeable, which makes it even more difficult to deal with the virus at its infant stage.
Bagaetsho, in order to stop the spread of COVId-19, let us stay at home and stop frequenting supermarkets during this time as this only exposes ourselves to infection and transmission of this dreadful virus.
We request you to adhere and comply with the Emergency COVID-19 Regulations since failure to do so constitutes an offence punishable by law.
