The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development says all Tirelo Sechaba, Graduate Volunteer Scheme participants and those on internship will be released from duty from March 30 to April 24.

According to a press release from the ministry, the measure is taken as a precaution to prevent spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The release of 12 933 Tirelo Sechaba participants, 263 Graduate Volunteer Scheme participants and 4 104 interns will decongest public offices and reduce movement between their homes and the work place.

“This is in line with advice from public health authorities to avoid congestion and minimize movement,” says the release.

The release further encourages all participants to follow guidance given by public health authorities while at home.

It says they must act responsibly since their safety is paramount for the safety of the nation. Ends
