Water utilities suspends disconnections

Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) says it has taken decisive measures to improve water availability and minimise disruptions in line with the COVID-19 public emergency.
A news release from the corporation says among the measures is suspension of all customer disconnections until further notice.
All customers with existing water accounts and disconnections would be reconnected, it says.
Other measures put in place include mobilisation of maintenance teams to optimise water supply by attending to leakages and pipe bursts, including operational continuity, service delivery and the safety of WUC employees.
The release encourages customers to reduce visits and gatherings at WUC revenue offices in observance of social distancing protocols. Customers are requested to self-service platforms instead including *186#, WUC App and www.wuc.bw
The release also urges the public to take all deliberate steps towards sustainable water usage and equitable distribution to all.
