Dr Mandlebe new finance ministry PS

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has appointed Dr Wilfred Mandlebe as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
A press release from acting Permanent Secretary to the President and Secretary to Cabinet, Mr Elias Magosi, states that the appointment effects immediately.
Dr Mandlebe has worked for the finance ministry for over 27 years, including six years of secondment to the African Development Bank (AfDB) between 2007 and 2013.
Before joining the finance ministry in 1992, he worked for Bank of Botswana for seven years from 1985 to 1992.
He holds a PhD in public policy, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts in Economics, and Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Accounting.
He has extensive experience in development planning and macroeconomic policy, having served in various capacities within the ministry to become secretary for economic affairs and secretary for financial affairs from 2004 to 2007, permanent secretary level and senior policy advisor from 2013 to date.
He has also served in the boards of a number of state-owned enterprises in the country, including the chairmanship of boards of the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation , Botswana Unified Revenue Service, Botswana Building Society, as well as Botswana College of Distance and Open Learning, now Botswana Open University, Fairground Holdings, Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority , Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency, Tertiary Education Council and National Development Bank.
Again, he has served as Botswana’s representative in the board of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) from 2000 to 2007, and an alternate on boards of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of the World Bank from 1998 to 2007, African Development Bank (AfDB) from 2003 to 2005 and International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2005 to 2007.
