UDC launches Khumomotse in Thamaga

The leader of the Umbrella for Democratic, Advocate Duma Boko says his party will introduce the 13th cheque once voted to power.
Advocate Boko revealed this at the launch of Thamaga-Kumakwane parliamentary candidate Mr Ofentse Khumomotse and council candidates in Thamaga on October 11.
Advocate Boko said public officers were currently living in poverty because of the policies adopted by the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
He said the P1400 monthly salary earned by a public officer at A3 scale was insufficient to sustain them for a month, adding even the 10 per cent salary adjustment was not sufficient to make a major difference.
Advocate Boko said this was the reason his party came up with a P3000 minimum living wage.
He said his party promised decent lives adding they would increase old age pension as the elderly were taking care of their grandchildren.
The UDC leader further said they would transform the economy for the benefit of Batswana.
Advovate Boko said the current structures encouraged corruption hence nothing concrete had been done to bring the culprits to book.
He said people often asked where the UDC would get the money to increase salaries, adding that they would get from the same government coffers where some funds had been misused.
He appealed to Thamaga-Kumakwane constituents to vote for Mr Khumomotse saying his legal background was ideal for Parliament where national laws were made.
For his part, Mr Khumomotse promised to advocate for developments in their area saying their constituency was lagging behind. ENDS
