Bakwena thirsty - UDC leader
06 Oct 2019
Leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change, Advocate Duma Boko says it is through voting UDC into power that the prevailing water situation in Molepolole will be rectified.
Speaking during a joint launch of Molepolole North and South constituencies parliamentary candidates, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli and Mr Mohammed Khan and 15 council candidates, he stressed the need to urgently resolve the water situation which has for a long time impacted on the lives of Bakwena.
He said a UDC government has solutions to the water problems the village was experiencing, and further stated that the UDC had achievable programmes as outlined in the party’s manifesto aimed at addressing unemployment, especially among the youth.
“Let’s have UDC as the new government to solve what remained unsolved under BDP’s period of long reign,” pleaded Advocate Boko.
He said they were working towards economic transformation with the intention to provide dignified lives to citizens, including an improved living wage to P3 000, P1 500 old age pension, P2 500 student allowances as well as sanitary pads to the vulnerable girl child.
Gaborone Central parliamentary candidate, Dr Mpho Pheko said electorate should not doubt the UDC promises, but should rather mandate it with levers of power and enjoy goodies coming with the UDC government.
She implored the youth to use the general elections to raise their voices through voting UDC. She said it was the only party committed to addressing the plight facing young people. “It is through your vote as the vulnerable segment of society that your voice can be heard, vote wisely for a decent life,” advised Dr Pheko.
Dr Mmatli said by voting UDC the long awaited development projects in Molepolole would be realised. “Let’s join hands for a common goal. It is through voting in the UDC government that your lives can be changed for good,” he said.
Mr Khan cautioned electorates to be vigilant and shun political parties that had empty promises for political mileage.
He dismissed delayed development projects intended for Molepolole, saying the situation reigned for long, and that it was difficult to believe change was eminent.
“Let us have UDC as the new government because it is ready to provide solutions to the prevailing state of affairs endured by Molepolole community and Batswana at large,” Mr Khan implored electorates.
For Molepolole North, Dr Mmatli will be contesting against Messers Shima Monageng of the Alliance for Progressives, and BDP’s Kabo Morwaeng while Messers Oabile Regoeng of BDP and Twobar Koontse of AP will be contesting for Molepolole North against Mr Khan. ENDS
