BDP intends to empower Batswana - Tsogwane

16 Sep 2019

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) intends to develop Batswana through programmes and policies that can boost their economic status.

The Vice President and also BDP chairperson, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, said this when launching prospective council candidates for Kedia and Xhumo on September 15.

He said the intention of his party was to come up with programmes that could enable Batswana to sustain themselves.

He warned the electorate against being deceived with empty promises and offers, which he said would not make any significant impact on their lives.

He explained that BDP was willing to give any investor interested in re-opening the BCL mine an opportunity since government did not have money to re-open it.

He implored the electorate to vote for a party that would ensure continuity of peace and tranquillity in the country.

Mr Tsogwane stated that there was no alternative party that had the potential to carry out developments in Botswana as the BDP did.

Mr Tsogwane challenged the electorate to inform themselves with the programmes of the party they intend to vote for and establish if such programmes had the potential to uplift their livelihoods.

He said the Boteti southern water cluster which would cover villages from Mokobaxane to Rakops was expected to start in 2020.

He stated that electricity installation was already underway in Kedia and Xere villages.

The former Member of Parliament for Nata/Gweta Mr Oliphant Mfa reiterated that BDP was delivering programmes aimed at developing Batswana.

He said BDP had made significant developments in Botswana and expressed confidence in the BDP candidates.

The former Member of Parliament for Francistown East Mr Phandu Skelemani dismissed opposition parties saying they promised Batswana sugar-coated programmes.

Mr Skelemani said opposition parties had not convinced Batswana well on their leadership qualities as they failed to work cooperatively within their party.

Mr Elijah Motsamai who intends to represent Xhumo emphasised that BDP had sound programmes and policies which had the potential to transform Botswana.

Mr Rotlhe Asa  pleaded with the people of Kedia to send him to the council saying it was time to develop Kedia. ends
