Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) veteran, Mr Patrick Balopi, has advised voters in the Shoshong constituency to take pride in Botswana’s founding fathers who ensured the reigning peace and democracy in the country.

Speaking at the launch of Shoshong aspiring parliamentary and council candidates on September 14, Mr Balopi said the party’s previous leaders had done a lot in guiding its current fore-runners towards a prosperous future.  

“Take pride in founding fathers of the nation, we are what we are because of the efforts that were made by the founders of the BDP,” he said.

He said the party veterans would always give support to the current party leadership so that they could use their vibe and energy to secure the future. 

He said Batswana were aspiring to build a sustainable future and would never abandon their past.  

Mr Balopi, therefore, advised the community of Shoshong that as they count their blessings, they must not forget to ask God to give the BDP another chance to govern. 

“Vote wisely, vote for the BDP,” he said adding that every five years, people were given an opportunity to retrospect and elect a government of their choice. 

Mr Balopi applauded the BDP leadership for engaging the nation in the decision-making process.

“Our decision-making process and development agenda is made after thorough consultation with our people. Hold tight onto what you already know, do not envy for the unknown for you do not know what it will present to you, said Mr Balopi.

“I present to you a team that will help President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi prosper,” he said.

The BDP aspiring parliamentary candidate, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele assured the constituents that his team was determined to help the BDP win the general election. 

Mr Makgalemele said despite the challenges, he was hopeful that working in consultation with the community would yield solutions to challenges of unemployment, among other things. 

He said the BDP under the leadership of Dr Masisi was determined to transform and grow the economy as well as respond to desires of the nation accordingly. 

“I trust that you will give Dr Masisi and the BDP an opportunity to serve your interests,” Mr Makgalemele said. ends
