Rally behind Gaolathe - Nasha
15 Sep 2019
Alliance for Progressives (AP) special advisor to party leader, Dr Margaret Nasha, has appealed to voters at the Gaborone Bonnington South constituency to rally behind prospective parliamentary and presidential candidate, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe.
Launching the constituency’s prospective parliamentary and council candidates on Saturday, Dr Nasha said it was befitting for electorate to vote Mr Gaolathe because he was a calm and trustworthy person who despised corruption.
For his part, Mr Gaolathe said he accepted his nomination as AP’s parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Bonnington South and presidential candidate with immense faith that their journey was that of building a new Botswana with a diversified economy.
At independence, he said, Botswana was potentially an agricultural bread-basket and then became a global miner, “but we have since stuck there and have never been able to change to anything more than that.
We have become stagnant, unable to unleash potential as a nation and now paying with an economy that cannot offer jobs or feed its people”.
Mr Gaolathe said the new Botswana was possible, but would not happen if AP members did not go out and vote their party prospective candidates in large numbers.
“It does not matter what they say about us, we are the people, we carry the light of our vision, we fight for the truth, we are fortunate with depth of our personnel and hey we have survived the storms when some pronounced us dead,” said Mr Gaolathe.
Alliance for Progressives deputy leader and Francistown South prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi also described Mr Gaolathe as a trustworthy and intelligent person.
If voted into power, Mr Mmolotsi said Mr Gaolathe would fight corruption to ensure Batswana enjoyed fruits of their country’s economy.
He added that for the country’s economy to grow further, it deserved to be entrusted in the hands of a dedicated and devoted leader like Mr Gaolathe. ends
