10 Sep 2019

Parliamentary aspirants, Messrs Johane Thiite of BDP and Noah Salakae of UDC have each implored Ghanzi North constituents to entrust their respective political parties with mandate to represent the constituency in the October 2019 general election.

Mr Thiite said his party had transformed the country from being among the poorest to middle income country, and was further committed to elevate the country’s economy to high income status.

He said had  the abattoir project been implemented there would be value chain beneficiation and the mushrooming of industries such as soap manufacturing plant, dog food processing and factories manufacturing candles in the area.

Once voted in to power, he said he would speed up relocation of the airport to make way for allocation for commercial and residential plots.

He also said relocating airport would be an opportunity to build a larger airport which would improve the aviation industry.

Mr Thiite said with his experience, he would deal better with infrastructural challenges in the area, citing that had worked in construction industry for years.

He added that with his philanthropist initiatives he had helped the community and would continue helping them once voted in to power.

For his part, Mr Salakae  said that his party would create 100 000 jobs in 12 months, establish a land bank to make land accessible to those who need it.

He also promised that his party would  increase old age pension and minimum wage, provide tablets for pupils, free sanitary pads and increase tertiary allowances.

He said that land allocation challenges only needed a government like the UDC to come up with relevant remedies.

Mr Salakae said he had advocated for the expansion of Itekeng Secondary School.

He appealed to constituents not to gamble with their future by voting for his opponents. ENDS
