Member of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) central commitee, Mr Tshekedi Khama has urged fellow democrats to recruit estranged members back into the party.
Speaking at the launch of Mahalapye East prospective member of parliament and councillors, Mr Khama stated that such should however, be done with respect. He thanked Mahalapye East constituency former MP, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso for working tirelessly for the country and developing the constituency. Mr Khama challenged Dr Ditshupo Maje who would be representing the party in the October 23 elections, not to disappoint.
He reminded democrats that the founders of the party loved peace and tranquillity and urged members to do likewise. Mr Khama urged members to accept their opponents adding that opposition parties had always existed yet the BDP managed to win the country’s first general elections.
Mr Khama who is also Member of Parliament for Serowe West said members should not fear democracy because without it there would not be elections.
For her part, Ms Tshireletso said that though there were challenges, she managed to reach her goals. She said Dr Maje was a hard worker and appealed to the constituents to vote for him and council hopefuls.
Ms Tshireletso urged members to cast their vote in favour of the BDP since it had delivered on its promises.
The prospective parliamentary candidate for Shoshong, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said the BDP had come up with programmes that could benefit the nation.
He appealed to voters to give President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi a chance to deliver on his roadmap. ENDs
