President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has told Moshupa/Manyana Botswana Democratic Party(BDP)elders that the long awaited Moshupa/Manyana road has been funded through the Chinese grant.
Addressing the elders prior to the area prospective parliamentary and council candidates launch in Moshupa on September 7, Dr Masisi acknowledged that even though the project took longer than expected due to budgetary constraints,it would soon come to pass.
He noted that road designs had been completed and the project would commence as soon as all logistics had been completed.
However,he advised residents to take care of the road once completed, and avoid road accidents emanating from speeding and drunken driving.
On other developments,President Masisi said that Moshupa primary hospital, whose construction would start in two weeks time, had been allocated a plot big enough to cater for future expansion.
He also said his wish was for other developments such as the stadium to be in close proximity to the hospital. Furthermore, Dr Masisi said they had intentions to bring back the P900 million project proposal at the first Parliament session after elections.
He said water was an essential aspect of life and therefore he was prepared to defend the project. He urged elders to encourage their representatives to support the project so that water shortage could be addressed. He also appealed to democrats to vote for Moshupa/Manyana prospective parliamentary and his prospective council candidates in large numbers to help the BDP retain power.
President Masisi noted that even though some candidates were still young and inexperienced, through proper mentoring and training they would learn.
He also reminded candidates that they were not representing their personal interests but that of the party.
For his part, BDP veteran Mr Peter Siele applauded President Masisi for appreciating the value of consultation in a democracy.
He said consulting with elders was a BDP culture which showed respect for elders.
He said Moshupa residents and Batswana in general were blessed to have a leader who respected elders and appreciates them as the foundation for wisdom.
However,Mr Siele urged consituents to secure the future of their children by voting for BDP candidates to ensure that President Masisi continued to lead the country.
Another party elder, Mr Abraham Dibeela assured Dr Masisi and his candidates of their support and applauded him for his bravery by standing firm at a time when his leadership was going through a rough patch.
He said of the 57 constituencies, they were aiming to win at least 50,one of which would be Moshupa/Manyana. ENDS
