BDP leader seeks fresh Mandate

08 Sep 2019

Moshupa/Manyana consituents have been implored to vote for Botswana Democratic Party(BDP) prospective parliamentary and council candidates in the upcoming general election to give President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi a fresh mandate .

Dr Masisi said he needed their support to be elected as president for the first time since he assumed the presidency through the succession plan 17 months ago.

He told democrats at the launch of Moshupa/Manyana BDP prospective parliamentary and prospective council candidates in Moshupa on September 7, that he was counting on the support from his home village to achieve his desire to continue leading Batswana and uplifting their lives.

Dr Masisi underscored the need for unity among BDP members, which he said would go a long way in ensuring victory in their constituency.

He urged  Mr Karabo Gare and council hopefuls to be humble and remain committed to their responsibilities of serving the people.

He also called on voters to respect their leaders so that collectively they could work towards bringing developments to their constituency.

Furthermore,President Masisi said unlike other political parties that spread hatred among Batswana, the BDP promised to  focus on infrastructural developments such as roads, hospitals, schools and classrooms, among others.

He said the BDP believed in values such as love and unity hence they had the best interest of the people at heart.

These values,he noted, were the reason his government continued to fight corruption to ensure that that all Batswana benefitted from the country’s economy.

Additionally,he told Moshupa/Manyana prospective candidates that they had a responsibility to sell the party to voters in a respectful manner.

He cautioned them against the use of foul language to their rivals because they needed to lure others political party members to vote for them.

President Masisi said the candidates should canvass votes through the party manifesto since they did not have individual plans.

This, he said would promote discipline within the party and enhance service delivery.

He also said he would advocate for the bill against floor crossing because it was not fair to voters.

Further, Dr Masisi said his intention was to promote stability in the country so that investors could show interest in doing business in Botswana.

Former Kanye North Member of Parliament Mr Kentse Rammidi said no other party could transform Botswana the way BDP had been doing over the years.

He said the transformation journey had seen the country’s infrastructure developing and livelihoods improved.

He said the upcoming general election should give a fresh mandate to President Masisi so that he continued with the his transformational econmic agenda.

This, he noted, could only be achieved by voting for all BDP parliamentary and council candidates across the 57 contituencies.

For his part, Mr Gare said he was confident that all the prospective candidates in his constituency had the ability to serve the people of Moshupa/Manyana.

He said having served as the area MP for 14 months after his predecessor, Dr Masisi assumed the presidency,he had ensured that planned projects such as Moshupa primary hospital and Moshupa/Manyana road were delivered.

Consequently,he requested for another term so that he,together with BDP councillors could continue to advocate for developments in their constituency. ENDS
